VIJAYAWADA: Sailing in the water taxies, travelling in unmanned public transport, enjoying the breezy evening on the riverfront, strolling  through the dense green parks, cycling on the wide roads and what not.

Come July this year, majority of these dreams of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and scores of others awaiting for the construction of Amaravati capital will take wings.

The master plan for the administrative city in the new capital Amaravati will be finalised next month and works will be  started in July.

The first phase of the the administrative city comprising the iconic structures of AP Legislative Assembly and High Court will be completed before December 2018.

The legislators of AP Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council were given a walk-through over the draft master plan of the administrative city in Amaravati at the AP Legislative Complex in Velagapudi on Saturday.

The entire administrative city would be modern, but would retain Telugu heritage and culture in every aspect of its construction.

Of the proposed nine cities in Amaravati, the master plan for the administrative city is in the final stages and would be finalised in April.

"Though each city is conceptualised after sectors like tourism, education and health, all of them have the components of other sectors. We do not want people from the education city to travel all the way to health city for medical facilities," Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said.

Meanwhile, the legislators from the Opposition YSRC including Opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy were conspicuous by their absence at the presentation made by Harsh Thapa from Foster + Partners.

When asked about his absence for the meeting, Jagan rubbished the claims of the State government and stated that not even a brick was laid to commence the capital construction. The government was giving graphic presentations to cover-up its failures, he said.

"It (presentation) is a waste of time. Whom does the ruling party wants to cheat?," the Opposition Leader asked. He alleged that the  government would construct the capital as per its whims without considering the problems being faced by the people residing in the villages of the capital city area.
